STANYS Planning Meeting

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:

  • Please bring copies of the activity or materials that you will use for a presentation at the Annual STANYS meeting or a local workshop that you are going to be doing for your section, district or department.
  • Think about your proposal and be ready to input if you are attending the 2009 STANYS conference.
  • If you are unable to attend, we will have an alternate brainstorming session on professional development strategies.
  • Something to share at the end of the day during our content time. I'm hoping to have one SAR do a feature presentation and then allow time for a share-a-thon.
  • Also...Please take some pictures of your classroom. This is optional but if we get some pictures, we would like to use these at the SAR planning meeting!

FOCUS: Connections

What Does "Making Connections" Mean?

•    Among the disciplines within science
•    Among science, math, technology, language arts, etc.
•    With college science teachers
•    With elementary teachers of science
•    With other teaching professional associations
•    With college instructors of future science teachers
•    With the NYSED
•    Among the DALs and SARs
•    With major science education related institutions at the local, state, and national level
•    With and among the other NY professional science education organizations
•    With sources of grant money
•    Between science teaching and sound elements of instruction
•    With future science teachers
•    With school districts, BOCESs, and SETRICs
•    With the media
•    With the NY Board of Regents and legislature
This may also be as simple as making connections in your instruction with studnet lives!
